2nd One Day Game at Leighton Buzzard Pt1

The crossroads table.
A great day's fighting on 2 tables. The Duke of Bedford, Hugh ‘Bulldog’ Drummond, Colonel Allen Faulkner, plus 2 platoons of BUF and Leighton Buzzard Workers Collective and a late showing from the Anglican League all lead to some very confused fighting around the village of Newton Longville.
Both ‘Bulldog’ Drummond and Colonel Faulkner were in the village to 'rescue' a Mr Johnson, everyone else was there to fly the flag and put on a show of force.
On the village table things started slowly as the BUF (Adrian) were conned by ‘Bulldog’ Drummond's (me) men, dressed as policemen to attack Colonel Faulkner (Mr PK). Grim's (Matt) Leighton Buzzard Workers Collective moved in to the village behind their tank.

On the other table Pinback (Richard) as the other Workers Collective commander fought it out with the BUF (Dik) until the Duke of Bedford's (Rob) forces arrived, this table then turned in to a 3 way fight around crossroads in the middle of the table.
The village of Newton Longville.
The Workers Collective tried to find a way round the BUF and Colonel Faulkner. The Workers Collective didn't want to start a fight without finding out who everyone else was. So for the first hour or more the only fighting was between the BUF and ‘Bulldog’ Drummond.

On the other table the BUF quickly got the upper hand over the Leightoner's but were pulled up short by the arrive of the Duke's forces.

Mortars

Sorry for the long break, life, gaming etc got in the way. Here some pictures of the finished mortar team, I think they've come out very well.

As I said i picked out over 100 Empress figures on ebay and have been converting them for VBCW, Giles asked on the forum (http://vbcf.freeforums.org/index.php) for a militia mortar team. I did one then a second
as well as a Vickers team. Giles bought the lot so I'm starting to make my money back which was the plan.
A lack of mortar bombs for the crews was a problem but I used cut down Bazooka rockets which did the trick.

Before I Got Side tracked

So before all this ebay stuff popped up I was planning a new mortar team.
I did one some time ago using a Musketeer figure as the mortar man, His right hand had to be changed and was made up of 3 pieces.
This was ok and looks very good, but I wanted to do better. These 2 are my Mk 2 mortar team.
Both are Artizan partisan figures the mortar and bombs are from Assault Group. The work took about half an hour and the figures look very good.  I now need to find a 3rd figure for the crew, so I'm going to have a good dig through the Empress figures I've just got.

Finished Figures and some luck on Ebay

2 Artizan policemen
So I've finished the 2 figures I was converting alone with some Artizan policemen.
Finished figure
I think the rifleman has come out very well, the other figure is good as well but I can't get a good picture of him.
First of my ebay winnings.
I've also had some luck with ebay, winning 138 Empress figures for £150 in 6 or 7 lots. This should mean I have enough figures for my converted platoon and a lot left over. I've also ordered 40 British helmets and 10 Tommy guns.
2 converted figures.
My plan is to do head/hat/helmet conversions and some weapon conversions as well and then sell then in 10 man sections or as weapons teams. Of the above figures I'm going to keep the rifleman and sell the BAR armed figure.

Next Figures

So my long term plan has been to have a platoon of all converted figures. As I've just sold some of my older figures, I though I'd better get on with it.

These 2 are Artizan I've used before, but I like them so here they are a second time. One has had just a rifle change, the other a helmet and rifle change.
More photo's when there finished, also some police I got at the same time.

A Gun For Doug

This gun I did for Doug to use at the last Hereford game put on by Giles. The gun is from Warlord and the crew from Empress.
It did very well keeping back the BUF.

2 converted Figures

So after a long break I've got my VBCW mojo back. Here are a couple of figures I've converted.
Big Pete and Spex are a LBV BAR team. Big Pete is a North Star figure with an Empress head and a TAG helmet. Spex is a Warlord figure and has a Musketeer left hand and rifle. The ammo box has a paper clip for a handle.
